This week saw us celebrate our guild birthday in style! On Saturday night several of our members participated in a game of Hunt the Mage, based on the board game Scotland Yard, and suggested originally on the forums by Zee.
Leni was kicked from the guild in order to hide her whereabouts, and hopped, skipped and jumped (well ok, flew, portalled, and boated) her way across the continents of Azeroth, attempting to dodge the dozen or so guildies trying to track her down. The game produuced some fab team work, and really got the brains thinking as people tried to work together and develop strategies to trap her. Sabriel & Tarnya refereed, and ensured that the rules were all abided to. In the end, Prinny found her, sat on a bench at the tram station in Ironforge.
We all then proceeded on to Stormspire for a bit of a boozefest and general party. There were some "interesting" costume choices, spectacular dancing, and I believe even some vomiting (nice).

Last night we saw a successful HaG raid, with a number of "new" raiders coming along to down Onyxia on the first try.
HaGs are all about learning, raiding at a slower pace, allowing the newer or less experienced raiders a chance to learn to work together as a team, see how TDD raids, learn the boss fights, and ofc gather those all important bits of gear and Emblems. Nad & Ciss will be continuing these raids on a Wednesday, so if you feel these raids would be useful to you please sign up. For the more experienced raiders, if you are willing to help out if there is a shortage of bodies, please indicate this on the calender, but be prepared to be not needed as the focus is strictly on those that NEED the raids. As always though, your willingness to help is appreciated. |

To call last nights raid a success would be an understatement. Firstly a nice clean and easy run through Lord Marrowgar and Lady Deathwhisper. We then picked up the weekly quest to kill the Rotten Frost Giant on the ramparts. A good bit of discussion ensued with none of us having faced this before.
The boss chucks a plague debuff on a random member of the raid, dealing nature damage over time, after 15 seconds, that player must spread the plague to another or die instantly. Starting the fight, we quickly worked out a rotation system for people to spread the plague, and other than that it was a fairly straight forward tank and spank fight. For some reason, the plague continued to infect people after the fight, until Quakey took one for the team and ran off to die, alone, and in a corner.
We then moved on to my personal favorite, the Gunship Battle (With Quakey promising to sing us "I'm on a boat" and still not delivering!). With no hassles we blew up the other boat, and stepped out onto Saurfangs ledge.
Triv did an excellent job of spreading everyone out into position, and after what looked like a rocky start, with the boss managing to cast Mark of The Fallen Champion before we hit 50%, and again at around about 30%. The healers did an excellent job of keeping everyone standing, and as we hit around 10% the screams of "just nuke just nuke!" came from all over vent, and finally, after weeks of trying, the boss went down!!
We had a nosy into the next wing, discovered that it is partially booby-trapped at the entrance, we killed some stuff for fun, including two mini bosses, dogs that look like Gluth's (remember him?) offspring, with the charming names of Stinky & Precious. With a wipe at this point, and it being past raid end time, we stopped there.
A big well done to all that attended, especially the newer guys, who had to learn very quickly as we went along, and did a brilliant job. Also a big well done and Thank You to Triv for raid leading. |

Festergut fell last night on our second attempt. Have to say, this was far easier that it sounded having read the tactics. Good communication on vent was the key, with the raid being notified whenever the Spores both landed on either the melee or ranged group.
Rotface caused us a few more problems, but it was good to see that we were learning different aspects of the fight at each attempt. On our final attempt Jos had it nailed running around kiting the big slimes, and tbh I think we got unlucky, with 3 slime pools being left right, smack bang, in the middle of where we were standing.
I am very confident that next weeks raiding will see us progressing to our first attempts on Professor Putricide :D |
